Already licensed in another state? You might qualify for reciprocity.
Here's what that means.
What reciprocity does
Reciprocity lets you skip the 63-hour course.
You still take the Florida law exam. But you don't repeat all the coursework.
This saves time if your state qualifies.
Which states qualify
Florida has mutual recognition with certain states.
The list changes. Always verify with the DBPR.
Common qualifying states include Georgia, Alabama, Indiana, and Nebraska.
Your license must be active and in good standing.
What you still have to do
Even with reciprocity, you need to:
Submit a Florida application and pay the fee.
Complete fingerprints and background check.
Pass the Florida law portion of the exam.
Activate with a Florida broker.
If your state doesn't qualify
You take the full path. 63-hour course, full exam, everything.
It's not that much longer. Most people finish in 6-12 weeks.
Start the course here if you need the full licensing path.
